GREENSBORO, N.C. – Theo Collomb had a hat trick with two assists Saturday evening to lead the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) men's soccer team to a 7-0 victory over visiting VMI in a Southern Conference matchup.
The defending SoCon Champion Spartans were coming off an upset of #2 Clemson University 3-1 on Tuesday. UNCG broke open the game early, scoring twice in the opening seven minutes and four times in the first 17 minutes.
Collomb completed the hat trick just before halftime, and UNCG added two goals after intermission.
The Spartans (6-2-1/1-0) outshot VMI 22-2 and held a 10-0 edge in corner kicks.
VMI (0-9/0-2) heads to Harrisonburg, Va. to play Eastern Mennonite University Tuesday at 7 p.m.
