The two teams have met 28 times in their long history. VMI last won in 2010 at Patchin Field in a historic way, as the Keydets and senior keeper Brian Sowell shutout the Highlanders 3-0. Sowell made six saves en route to breaking the school's career all-time shutout record, and he finished with 10 in his prolific career.

Sewell holds the school record with 384 career saves, a mark current VMI senior keeper Broden Schull is threatening (347).

Radford defeated the Keydets in Radford this March in the spring season 4-1. Nathan Lam scored for VMI.

The Highlanders are 1-2 on the year, coming off a 3-0 loss at home to Liberty University.

The Keydets open Southern Conference play Saturday at Wofford College at 1 p.m.
