VMI Football Starts ’21 Fall Season at Home against Davidson

Keydets to play five games at Foster Stadium this fall

2021 VMI Football Schedule

LEXINGTON, Va. – Defending Southern Conference football champion VMI will open its 2021 fall schedule September 4 against Davidson at Foster Stadium in Lexington.

The eleven-game schedule will feature three non-conference September games before an eight-game run in SoCon competition.

The Keydets and Wildcats, champions of the Pioneer League, both participated in the FCS 2021 spring season playoffs. Davidson is coached by former Washington & Lee head coach Scott Abell. It will be the first meeting between the schools since 2014.

The Keydets will take on two first-time foes over the next two weeks traveling to MAC member Kent State Sept. 11 and Ivy League member Cornell September 18. VMI last faced a MAC team in 2018 (Toledo) and Ivy School opponent in 1939 (Columbia).

VMI will begin its defense of its 2021 spring SoCon football title in Lexington against Wofford September 25. The following week the Keydets will travel to Charleston, South Carolina to take on conference military rival The Citadel on October 2 in "The Military Classic of the South." The rest of the conference slate features home games against Chattanooga (Oct. 9), Samford (Oct. 30), and Western Carolina (Nov. 20). Road conference games will be at Mercer (Oct. 16), ETSU (Nov. 6) and Furman (Nov. 13).

Tickets for home games will go on sale July 1 and information for purchasing season tickets will be published later in the spring on vmikeydets.com.
