BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The 24^th-ranked Long Island University women's water polo team defeated VMI 21-12 Thursday evening in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) contest.

Red-shirt junior McKenna Imset scored seven times while Catherine and Rachel Ahumada each had a goal and three assists. Rachel Ahumada had three drawn exclusions as well.

Sydney Shettleroe, Gia Donatelli and Makenna Moore each had a goal while Kiara Anguiano, Genevieve Petrassi, Maddie Berry and Caragh Osborne had an assist apiece. Moore and Osborne each recorded two steals. Katie Lloyd made seven stops in net.

Jessica Dean led LIU (4-0/4-0 MAAC) with seven goals and four assists while Elena Camarena had five goals and five assists.

VMI (4-9/1-4 MAAC) will continue its New York swing this weekend, playing at Siena and Marist (twice) Colleges Saturday and Iona College Sunday.
