Morgan Named National Freshman of the Week

LEXINGTON, Va. – After his stellar performance against The Citadel last weekend, VMI redshirt freshman quarterback Seth Morgan was named the Stats Perform National Freshman Player of the Week Tuesday morning.

The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, native accounted for 357 yards of total offense and four touchdowns as VMI (6-1) beat The Citadel 31-17 in the "Military Classic of the South" and finished off its first Southern Conference championship since 1977.

Surpassing 300 passing yards in his third straight start since replacing injured quarterback Reece Udinski, Morgan completed 25 of 34 passes for 328 yards and three TDs – a 183.68 pass efficiency. He also ran for 29 yards and a score.

Southeastern Louisiana's Cole Kelley, South Carolina State's B.J. Davis and James Madison's Ethan Ratke were selected as the other Stats Perform FCS National Players of the Week. South Dakota State was recognized as the National Team of the Week for all games played April 17.

Ranked No. 11 in the latest AFCA and Stats Perform national polls, VMI will face No.1-ranked and No.3 seed James Madison in the NCAA FCS Playoffs this Saturday at 2 p.m. at Bridgeforth Stadium in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
