LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI baseball team will travel to Samford University (Ala.) this weekend for a three-game Southern Conference series. The two teams will begin with a doubleheader Friday at 3 p.m. (EST), followed by a single game Saturday at 2 p.m. (EST).

Samford enters the weekend competition atop the Southern Conference's Blue Division with a 5-1 SoCon record. The Terriers swept UNCG earlier this season and took two of three against ETSU last weekend.

Will Knight had a big series against UNCG last weekend, hitting .455 in three starts in right field. He blasted two home runs and finished with a .571 on base percentage and 1.000 slugging percentage. Freshman third baseman
