Keydet Water Polo on the Road Sunday

LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI women's water polo team will travel to Salem University (W. Va.) Sunday for two non-conference matches against Gannon University (noon) and Salem.

The teams should be evenly matched as VMI defeated Gannon last weekend 16-15 and fell 12-11 to Salem, tied for 25th in the nation in the most recent D1 poll.

Sophomore Sydney Shettleroe earned Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Offensive Player of the Week honors Thursday. She broke the single-match school record with nine goals in Saturday's 15-5 victory against Mount St. Mary's University (Md.). In three matches last week, she had 15 goals and two assists as the Keydets went 2-1 at Villanova University.

Shettleroe leads the Keydets in both goals (22) and points (28) in six matches on the young season. She has added six steals and eight draw exclusions.

VMI (3-3) opens MAAC lay next weekend at home, Saturday, March 27.
