VMI opens SoCon Slate at ETSU this weekend
LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI baseball team opens its 2021 Southern Conference schedule this weekend at East Tennessee State University (ETSU) in a three-game series. Game times are set for 5 p.m. Friday and a doubleheader starting Saturday at 1 p.m.

VMI enters the weekend series on a high note after defeating George Washington University 8-1 Wednesday. Red-shirt freshman
Trey Morgan had three hits and reached base safely in all five of his at bats. Red-shirt senior
Jacob Menders started on the hill and needed just 47 pitches to get through four scoreless innings, allowing four hits, no walks with two strikeouts. Red-shirt freshman
Tyler Bradt followed Menders with two scoreless frames, giving up just one hit.
Callen Nuccio had two hits including a double.
Will Knight was 2-5 with a walk and scored twice, and
Cole Garrett and
Zac Morris also had two hits.
The Bucs are 10-6 on the season, falling 9-6 at 10
th-ranked Tennessee Tuesday in 10 innings.
VMI took two of three games in Lexington the last time the two teams met, April 5-7, 2019. Head coach
Jonathan Hadra earned his 100
th career win in the Sunday contest in a 6-0 Keydet victory.
