LANCASTER, Pa. – The VMI wrestling team split a tri-match Sunday at Franklin & Marshall University, defeating Long Island University 24-22 before falling 24-12 to the host school. Both matches were non-conference clashes.
VMI 24, LIU 22
Junior
Zach Brown scored a 3-0 win at 184 pounds, following a 3-2
Justin Hart win at 174 pounds to give the Keydets a commanding 24-12 lead in the dual match with just two weight classes remaining.
Freddy Junko (141),
Luke Hart (149) and
Job Chishko (165) all won by forfeit.
Tyler Mousaw had a narrow 3-2 defeat at 197 and
Solomon Harris lost just 5-3 at 285.
F&M 24, VMI 12
Freshman
Sam Congleton started the match against the Diplomats with a pin in 2:23 at 125 pounds. Chishko won 6-2 at 165 pounds and Mousaw won 7-1 at 197.
Jon Hoover was defeated just 3-2 at 174 and
Isaac Dolph lost by the same score at 285.
The Keydets host West Virginia University next Sunday in Cormack Hall at 2 p.m.
