Parham named SoCon Player of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – VMI's Greg Parham has been named the Southern Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week presented by GEICO for all contests from Jan. 12-18 after averaging 27.7 points per game and shooting nearly 67 percent from 3-point range over three contests. The award is selected by the league office.
 
Parham, who also averaged 5.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.0 steals per game, opened his week with a season-high 29 points Wednesday in an 80-78 loss to Wofford, which got a go-ahead 3-pointer with 1.3 seconds left for the win. Parham was 10-for-15 from the floor, including a 7-for-8 effort from beyond the 3-point arc, adding two rebounds, three steals and three assists against just one turnover.
 
Three days later, Parham scored 27 points and pulled down a career-best nine rebounds in a 110-103 win over military rival The Citadel, going 2-for-3 from 3-point range and 5-for-6 from the free-throw line. The senior from Richmond, Virginia, had another three assists and three more steals.
 
Parham wrapped up his consistent week with 27 points in a 92-81 loss at defending SoCon champion ETSU on Monday, going 5-for-10 from 3-point range with four rebounds and five assists with just one turnover.
 
For the week, Parham went 30-for-52 (.577) from the floor, converting exactly 10 field goals in each contest, and was 14-for-21 from beyond the arc (.667). He was 9-of-12 (.750) from the free-throw line with an 11-to-2 assist-to-turnover ratio.

VMI (7-7, 2-3) hosts league-leading Furman (10-3, 4-0) on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
