VMI Water Polo Takes First Two at Grove City Invite
GROVE CITY, Pa. – The VMI women's water polo team ran its early season record to 9-1 on the year with a pair of victories Friday at the Grove City College Invitational.
The Keydets opened the day with a 12-7 win over Mercyhurst University, getting payback for their only loss of the season (12-10 on Feb. 16).
Genevieve Petrassi scored four times with two assists and two steals and
McKenna Imset had a hat trick.
Makenna Moore,
Emma Noble and
Catherine Ahumada each had a goal and two assists while
Emma Perez had a goal and an assist.
Kiara Anguiano also scored and had two steals. Issi French made five saves in net with two steals and an assist and
Bridget Hughes made two stops.
VMI closed the day with a 14-11 victory against Salem International University. Ahumada scored a team-high four goals, while
Zoe Salafatinos, Noble and Imset each scored three times. Moore had a goal, an assist and two steals and Noble added three assists and two steals. Perez handed out four assists and French made 10 saves to go with three steals.
The Keydets will face Gannon University at 10:30 a.m. and Grove City at 2:15 p.m. Saturday. Â
