VMI Baseball travels to Virginia Tuesday
LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI baseball team will make one of its shortest trips of the season Tuesday as the Keydets head to Charlottesville for a non-conference game at the University of Virginia at 3 p.m.

VMI opened the season at the University of North Florida this weekend, taking the series finale Sunday 5-1. Sophomore right-hander
Adam Jewell threw eight scoreless innings, allowing just four singles and no walks with seven strikeouts to earn the win Sunday.
VMI's starting outfield had a very productive trip south. Red-shirt sophomore
Will Knight started all three games in right field and hit a team-best .462 with a triple, two runs and two RBI. Senior centerfieler
Jordan Ebersole boasted a .364 average with two runs and a .417 on-base percentage. Junior left-fielder
Cody Warner hit .333 with two runs scored with a walk.
Freshman righty
Ben Capehart is scheduled for his first collegiate start Tuesday for VMI, facing off with sophomore right-hander Zach Messinger. Messinger threw three innings of scoreless relief last season on Feb. 19 against the Keydets.
VMI (1-2) hosts Lafayette College in a three-game series this weekend.
