Chattanooga Defeats VMI Wrestling 29-9

Lexington, Va. – Three Keydets posted victories Sunday afternoon and were close in several other matches, but the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga defeated the VMI wrestling team 29-9 in a Southern Conference match. VMI red-shirt senior Neal Richards was honored in a pre-match ceremony for capturing his 100^th career win Saturday at the University of Virginia.

Richards won his match 7-2 at 174 pounds to post his 101^st career win. Junior Will Lawrence scored a takedown in the opening seconds of sudden victory at 157 for a 7-5 win and Chris Beck closed out the afternoon with a 3-2 win at 285 pounds.

In addition to the three VMI winners, a few Keydets had close matches, including Cliff Conway at 133 (5-3), Job Chishko at 149 (5-4) and Jon Hoover at 165 (7-4).

VMI will compete in the All-Academy Championships next Saturday in Colorado Springs, Colo. Hosted by the Air Force Academy.
