Water Polo Team Competes in Minnesota This Weekend

LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI water polo team is scheduled to play five matches this weekend in St. Paul, Minn. as part of the Macalester College Invitational.

The Keydets (3-2) will open play Friday at 7 p.m. against the host school. Saturday's slate includes Carthage (9:30 a.m.) and Monmouth (5 p.m.) and VMI finishes up with Macalester at 8:40 a.m. and Redlands at 11:20 a.m. on Sunday.

VMI redshirt-freshman McKenna Imset earned the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Water Polo Rookie of the Week award Wednesday.

Imset, from Whittier, Calif., scored seven goals in a victory over St. Francis (Pa.) Saturday to tie the school record for goals in a game. She also had three assists in the match. In the first game of her collegiate career, Imset posted five goals and an assist against Salem International University and had five goals and two helpers against Gannon University. Over five contests last week, she had 18 goals, six assists and eight drawn exclusions.
