REDLANDS, Calif. – Competing in the third of five matches in California, the VMI water polo team defeated Redlands by a 12-5 score Wednesday night at the Thompson Aquatic Center in Redlands, California.

The Keydets (13-8) made quick work of the Bulldogs (6-17) by jumping ahead, 4-0, after the opening period and logged five more goals in the second to go on top, 9-3, by the half. VMI allowed only two more goals in the third period before shutting out Redlands in the fourth to grab the 12-5 win.

Senior Shelby Barkley and junior Sarah Dolitsky torched the Redlands net for five goals apiece during the match while Emma Perez and Natalie Rivas put in the other goals for VMI.

VMI goalie Isabel French registered 13 saves and a steal playing a full 32 minutes in the cage.

The Keydets will next face Occidental in a 5 p.m. PDT match Thursday in Los Angeles.
