BUFFALO, N.Y. – Exploding for four goals in the final 45 minutes, host Canisius registered a 5-0 win over the VMI men's soccer team Sunday afternoon at Demke Sports Complex in Buffalo, New York.

The Keydets looked to rally in the second half after trailing just 1-0 at intermission, but the Golden Griffs continued to press offensively and managed the four additional scores. Canisius scored three goals in the first 15 minutes of the second half to go up, 4-0, before a final tally in the last minute resulted in the final outcome of the match.

Troy Brady logged the first and final scores for the Golden Griffs while Hunter Walsh put in the second and fourth goals. MAAC preseason all-conference honoree Melvin Blair scored the third goal of the game for Canisius.

Senior forward David Wright led the Keydets with two shots on the day while Cooper Duplantis, Christopher McGhan and Richard Quispe were also credited with shot attempts. The Golden Griffs combined for 28 shot attempts in the effort.

With the win, Golden Griff keeper Bryce Tramuta improves to 2-0 on the season while VMI's Jon Harrington falls to 0-2-1 despite four saves during the game.

The Keydets return to Lexington for their home opener Saturday at noon against Saint Joseph's.
