Edens Named to Midseason Stopper of the Year Watch List

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - VMI's Taylor Edens was one of 39 players named to the midseason watch list for the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Stopper of the Year Award, given to the top relief pitcher in Division I baseball. The watch list was announced Tuesday afternoon.

Edens has accumulated nine saves in VMI's 12 victories so far this season, including saving both ends of doubleheader sweeps on two different occasions. The nine saves rank in a tie for second in the SoCon and are the second-most in a single season in Keydet history.

Edens was one of four pitchers named from the SoCon, tied with the Atlantic Coast Conference for the most from any league. The NCBWA will announce five finalists for the 2015 Stopper of the Year – the Division I national saves leader and four other relief pitching standouts – on Wednesday, June 3, prior to the start of NCAA Super Regional competition. The NCBWA's All-America Committee will select the winner, with this year's recipient to be announced during the 2015 College World Series.
