VMI Takes on Vermont in Third Game of Home Stand

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Coming off of its first win this season, the Virginia Military Institute men's lacrosse team returns to Drill Field #2 Wednesday afternoon to take on visiting University of Vermont, the first meeting between the teams since 2010.

The game was originally scheduled for 7 p.m., but has be moved up to 4 p.m., and will still be played on the Institute's North Post.

How to Catch The Action
Admission is free to both games this weekend. Fans unable to make the trek to Lexington can follow the action through a live stats link. There will also be occasional tweets through @VMILacrosse on Twitter.

Weather.com Report
Wednesday's high is expected to be in the low 50s by mid-afternoon. Temperatures will fall as the sun goes down at Drill Field #2. Fans should also be prepared for a light wind on the field. Sunset will be at 6:15 p.m., near the conclusion of the game.

Parking for Wednesday's Game
Parking will be permitted at the Paulette Hall lot, Marshall Hall lot and Jordan's Point lot. Fans parking at Jordan's Point can enjoy a nice walk to the stadium via Saunders Field Road or the Woods Creek Trail. Handicap parking will be available above the field, but require a handicap parking tag or hanger. At no time will vehicles without a handicap parking tag or hanger be permitted to drive on the trail above the field. Parking on Anderson Road or along Saunders Field Road will NOT be permitted, by order of the VMI Post Police.

Accessing Drill Field #2
Fans parking at Paulette Hall or Marshall Hall can access the field by a set or railroad tie stairs. We ask the fans walking along Drill Field #1 stay to the far left of the field, walking along the wall. There are multiple sets of bleachers available for the comfort of fans in attendance. Those parking at Jordan's Point can either take the Woods Creek Trail, which will bring them above Drill Field #2, or by walking down to Paulette Hall and using the railroad tie stairs. Please stay the left side of Drill Field #1.

Pets
Pets will NOT be allowed on any of the Drill Fields, but will be permitted along the Woods Creek Trail above the fields.

Drill Fields #1 and #3
We ask that fans please refrain from walking on either of the grass drill fields. Only Drill Field #1 will be permitted for access, and then only the left-hand side of the field to access the game field.

The Series
Wednesday's game will be just the second meeting all-time between VMI and the Catamounts. The lone meeting came back in 2010 as Vermont surged past VMI in the fourth quarter to win 12-8. Two people on VMI's sideline tomorrow were part of that game, assistant coach and then a sophomore Keith Long, who scored once, and associate head coach Curtis Jaques, who was then an assistant. VMI and Vermont have only played in Lexington and this will be the first meeting at Drill Field #2.

On This Date: March 2
The Keydets have played on March 5 just twice in program history, falling in both contests. The Keydets played on this date most recently in 2007 in a 20-0 loss against #8 Virginia in Charlottesville.

Windisch and Mattice Honored
Junior goalkeeper Evan Windisch and freshman Dale Mattice were named the Atlantic Sun Defensive and Offensive Player of the Week, respectively, on Monday afternoon.

Windisch earned the honor after making 33 saves in two games against Detroit and Air Force, including 19 in the former. He earned VMI's first-ever win over a Service Academy as well.

Mattice scored what proved to be the game-winning goal, the first of his career, against Air Force, while also potting an insurance goal late in fourth. He assisted the goal that gave VMI a lead it would not relinquish.
