The weekly awards have already begun for VMI starting pitcher Reed Garrett, less than 24 hours after his no-hitter against Lafayette Friday night. Garrett was named the Perfect Game Player of the Day by the organization Saturday morning, the second PG POTD honor for the Keydets in the last two seasons.
Garrett joins right-hander T.J. Lighton, who earned the award in March of last season, as the only Keydets to ever earn that honor.
VMI baseball is back in action Saturday, resuming its series with Lafayette at 3 p.m.
