Keydets Fall in Regular Season Finale

LEXINGTON, Va. – The Washington & Lee Generals won the final nine events to break open a close meet and went on to defeat the VMI Keydets, 169-90, in NCAA men's swimming and diving action Saturday afternoon at VMI's Clark King Pool in Lexington.

Despite the setback, the Keydets (2-7) did post three victories on the day, including a win in the 200 medley relay. Peyton Bailey, Stephen Lloyd, Jared Redding and Connor McMahon teamed up to post a 1:40.61 time. Marcus Sutter continued his recent run of success, winning the 100 breast in 1:02.64, while Jeremy Senn edged out Bailey to win the 100 back in 55.73, with Bailey finishing second in 56.05.

McMahon would also log an individual second place finish, doing so in the 100 free (49.37), while Jeff Whiteman touched the wall in 1:50.34 to post a runner-up finish in the 200 free. Finally, Kodiak Bowers was second in the 200 IM (2:06.89) and Joe Lincoln, Christian Rowcliffe, Lloyd and McMahon were second in the 200 free relay at 1:29.90.

VMI swimming and diving will return to action Feb. 21, opening competition at the three-day CCSA Championships being held in Athens, Ga.
