Water Polo Hangs Tough With Siena but Falls to Marist

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. -- Despite a combined twelve goals from Molly Andoe and Mackenzie Perkins, the VMI women's water polo team hung tough with both Siena College and Marist College, but ultimitly fell to both. The Keydets slipped 18-10 against the Saints and 17-5 against the Red Foxes.

In the first game of the day, Andoe and Perkins ripped off nine of VMI's 10 goals. Samantha Farr chipped in the 10th and final marker, which now stands as the program's mark for most goals in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game for the Keydets, besting their previous mark of seven, set three times.

Against Marist, VMI struck twice in the second quarter, but was held to just one goal in each of the other three quarters. Three different Keydets got into action on the offensive end against the Red Foxes, paced by Heather Magill, who tallied the first two VMI goals. Perkins bookended Andoe's goal.

Between the pipes for VMI, senior Amanda Berrios tallied five saves against the Saints while logging another three against Marist.

VMI (1-20, 0-9 MAAC) returns to Lexington for its final home game of the 2012 season when it squares off with Salem International on Monday. The 5:30 p.m. will be a rematch of VMI's first-ever game, which the Keydets won 22-6. Monday's game will be played at Clark King Pool.
