Yoder Named to College Baseball Foundation National Honor Roll

LEXINGTON, Va.- After a week that saw him reach base in ten of his 17 plate appearances, sophomore infielder A.J. Yoder earned national recognition by being named to the College Baseball Foundation's National Honor Roll. He is the first Keydet named to the list this season, and one of only two players from the Big South to be so honored this week.

Yoder (Belleville, Pa./Indian Valley) has reached base in all but one game this season for the 8-3 Keydets, and has reached base multiple times in all but two games this season. Forced to move from third base to second base because of Shane Geisslinger's injury, Yoder has kept up his offensive charge. Over the past two weeks, Yoder has led the team with a .370 batting average, scoring 10 runs in leading the Keydets to a 6-2 record over the period. Overall, he leads the team with a .359 AVG, 12 runs, 21 total bases, a .538 SLG, a .479 OBP and seven walks. After ranking eighth in the country as a freshman last season in toughest to strike out, Yoder has struck out only four times in 48 plate appearances in his sophomore campaign.

Having bounced around in the lineup between the leadoff, second and cleanup spots, Yoder has excelled at each position, while he is also perfect in three stolen base attempts. Yoder and the rest of the Keydets will be in action this afternoon, taking on in-state rivals Norfolk State at 4 p.m. at Gray-Minor Stadium.
