Van Es Named to College Baseball Foundation National Honor Roll

LEXINGTON, Va.- After a week that saw him drive in seven runs and reach base multiple times in each game, sophomore outfielder Eddie Van Es has earned national recognition by being named to the College Baseball Foundation's National Honor Roll. He is the second Keydet named to the list this season, and the only player so honored from the Big South this week.

In five games last week, Van Es batted .450 (9-20), with five runs scored and seven batted in, to lead the 30th-ranked Keydets to a 4-1 record, including a win over No. 10 Auburn, and three-game sweep of Big South foe Charleston Southern. He went 3-4 with a game-tying two run home run in the sixth inning and an RBI triple in the eighth inning to lead the Keydets past Auburn, then had a pair of hits in each of the final two games against the Bucs. On the week, Van Es slugged .850 while sporting an on-base average of .522, plus three doubles, a triple, a home run, three walks and two sacrifices.

Van Es and the Keydets will be in action Wednesday afternoon, taking on in-state rivals Old Dominion at 6 p.m. at the Bud Metheny Baseball Complex in Norfolk.
