VMI Lacrosse Holds Off Wagner, 7-6
For Third Straight Win

Staten Island, N.Y. -- Senior midfielder Brian Niven scored his second goal of the day and eventual game-winner with 6:30 left as the VMI Lacrosse team (3-3, 3-0 MAAC) defeated Wagner, 7-6 at the Wagner College Lacrosse Field on Saturday afternoon. The win marked VMI's first three-game winning streak since 1995. It also marked the Keydets' first road victory since 2001.

VMI was outscored in the first quarter by a count of 3-1. The Keydets knotted the score at 4-4 by halftime as they reversed the 3-1 outcome on Wagner in the second quarter.

After a scoreless third quarter, VMI took charge in the fourth stanza behind goals from junior attackman Tim Erwin and freshman attackman Will Collier. The Seahawks (0-4, 0-3 MAAC) retaliated with two goals of their own, before Niven netted the game winner and the Keydets held on for the one-goal victory.

Senior Keydet goalkeeper Brian Ward made 13 saves on 20 Wagner shots.

VMI will return to action on Saturday, March 29 at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. Face-off will be at 1 p.m.
