Billy Cosh enters his second season as offensive coordinator after leading the Air Raid offense to a SoCon title in 2020-21.

Last spring, VMI ranked in the top two in seven different SoCon offensive categories including scoring, passing offense, and passing efficiency. He was instrumental in the development of redshirt freshman quarterback Seth Morgan who stepped in for the injured Reece Udinski at mid-season and led the Keydets to their first-ever FCS playoff appearance.

Cosh previously served two seasons as the Keydets' wide receivers coach and was instrumental in the development of the wide receiver corps in 2018. He coached back-to-back 1,000-yard receivers, had three receivers in the Top 10 of the SoCon for receiving, and coached four All-Conference receivers in his two seasons as wide receivers coach (2018-19). Started his duties as VMI's wide receivers’ coach in June 2018.

He came to VMI from Indiana, where he served as an offensive graduate assistant and handled varied duties including assisting with the passing game plan, running the scout defense and special teams. He also worked with Hoosier quarterbacks and wide receivers while evaluating the quarterback position for recruiting.

Cosh began his coaching career at Concord University in 2015 where he served as an offensive GA and quarterbacks coach. He was involved with the quarterback position development and recruited the state of Maryland.

He graduated with a bachelor of science degree in sociology from the University of Houston in 2015. Coshed played collegiately at Houston (2013-14), Butler Community College (2012), James Madison (2011) and Kansas State (2010). He led Butler CC to the NJCCA National Championship, throwing for 2,856 yards and 25 touchdowns in 2012.

In high school, Cosh broke the Maryland state records for single-season passing yardage (3,913), passing touchdowns (56), and completions (292) at Arundel High School. He is also the Maryland high school career record holder with 112 passing touchdowns. Billy and his wife, Kelsey, who also works for the Institute, reside in Lexington.
