Alex Radsky

Alex Radsky

August 2013 marked the first year on Post for Alex Radsky, a 2011 graduate of Davidson College.

“I am excited to announce that Alex Radsky will be added to our coaching staff,” said Skretkowicz.” Alex is a SoCon champion and a national qualifier. For the last two years, Alex wrestled at the Olympic Training Center in Columbus, Ohio, while obtaining his masters degree from the Ohio State University. He will bring a diverse background to our wrestling program while working closely with our light weights. Our institution looks forward to our wrestlers following in his footsteps. I ask for our fans and alumni to welcome him into the Keydet family.

Radsky is familiar with VMI, having grappled for Southern Conference foe Davidson College from 2007-11 and is one of the most successful wrestlers to go through the program. In 2009-10, Radsky claimed the Southern Conference’s 133 pound title with a 3-2 decision, aided by a third-period takedown in the championship round. At the time, he was Davidson’s first SoCon title winner in 41 years and the first Wildcat to compete at the NCAA Wrestling Championships in 11 seasons.

In the spring of 2010, following his junior season, Radsky qualified for the USA World Team Trials, winning the 60kg (133 pounds) bracket at the USA Wrestling Northern Plains Senior Freestyle Regionals to earn a spot at the World Team Trials.

Over the course of his Davidson career, Radsky collected 68 wins at 133 pounds, including a 29-9 mark his senior year (2010-11). He finished with 12 wins by fall, including six in his final campaign while earning 165 team points over the course of his career. On just one occasion during his senior year did Radsky lose multiple matches in a row, eventually reeling off six consecutive victories from Dec. 18, 2010 to Jan. 13, 2011. In that same season, Radsky finished third at the Southern Conference Championships at 133 pounds, his second third-place finish at the League’s tournament, including his freshman season.

Wrestling runs in the Radsky family. Alex’s twin brother, Vitaly, was also a standout at Davidson, wrestling primarily at 141 pounds from 2007-2011. The Radsky twins were born in Odessa, Ukraine to Slava and Ellen before coming to the United States and residing in Worthington, Ohio and attending Thomas Worthington High School.
