Sherry Baucom begins her third year at the Institute, and currently holds dual roles as Senior Woman Administrator and Athletic Academic Advisor.

At VMI, Baucom's responsibilities include helping provide academic support for athletes to meet NCAA eligibility requirements and maintain progress toward their degree. Athletic advisors also assist in coordinating tutoring sessions for athletes and assist coaches in recruiting visits with prospective athletes.

Baucom also currently serves on the Big South Conference Board of Administrators and Council of Senior Woman Administrators, VMI Athletic Council, and is an advisor to VMI Student Athlete Advisory Committee.

Prior to moving to Lexington, Baucom was a science teacher at schools in North Carolina & Tennessee, and also held several coaching roles at those respective schools.

Baucom received her Bachelors Degree in Chemistry from Mars Hill College in North Carolina, where she was also the Assistant Coach of the Lions women’s basketball team. Baucom currently holds teaching licenses in North Carolina and Tennessee in Chemistry, with over seven years of teaching experience to her credit.

A Brasstown, N.C. native, Baucom is married to VMI Head Basketball Coach Duggar Baucom. The couple resides in Lexington, Va., and have a 21-year old son, Travis, who is a recent graduate of UNC-Wilmington.
