Peter Dolan enters his first season as an assistant coach for the VMI men's lacrosse program in 2026-27, where he will oversee the Keydets' offense.
Dolan comes to the Institute after serving as an assistant coach at Iona University during the 2026 season. He brings more than a decade of coaching experience at the collegiate, club and international levels, with an extensive background in player development, recruiting and program operations.
Prior to Iona, Dolan served as an assistant coach at High Point University under head coach John Crawley. During his time with the Panthers, he worked with faceoff specialists, defenders and transition units while assisting with scouting reports, film sessions and recruiting. He also oversaw budget and equipment operations and served as the team's academic liaison, helping the program achieve team GPAs of 3.7 in the fall of 2024 and 3.69 in the spring of 2025.
Before arriving at High Point, Dolan spent four seasons at Rutgers University, helping guide the Scarlet Knights to an NCAA Final Four appearance in 2022 and an NCAA Quarterfinal appearance in 2021. Rutgers compiled a 39-21 record during his tenure, while Dolan worked closely with the goalkeepers, faceoff specialists and transition units. He also assisted in the development of several All-Americans and All-Big Ten selections.
Dolan has also gained extensive international coaching experience with Ireland Lacrosse, helping lead the U20 National Team to a gold medal at the 2024 European Championship. He has served in multiple roles within the Irish national program, including coaching at the 2022 and 2023 World Lacrosse Championships and assisting with player and coach development initiatives.
Dolan began his collegiate coaching career at his alma mater, Lasell University, where he helped guide the program to 26 wins over two seasons. He also spent time on the coaching staff at Western New England University during the 2020-21 season. Throughout his career, Dolan has coached more than 40 all-conference selections, 16 All-Americans and multiple positional Players of the Year.
A native of Pearl River, New York, Dolan earned both his bachelor's degree in communications and his master's degree in business administration from Lasell University, where he was also a member of the men's lacrosse program.
“I couldn’t be more excited to have these two join our staff and work with our team. Having worked with and competing against Coach Leeds, it is great to be reunited with him. I have admired Coach Dolan from afar for many years and he is a great representative for our sport and profession. I am excited to have him running our offense and we are lucky to have him as part of our program,” said VMI head men's lacrosse coach Mike Daly.
