Matthew Beaven was named the Director of Athletics Equipment & Services in April 2026.
Beaven joins the VMI staff after spending over two years with the Marshall football team. Beaven started as an Assistant Director of Equipment Manager before being promoted to Director of Equipment in March 2024.
Prior to Marshall, Beaven spent time at Stetson as an Assistant Equipment Manager, with direct oversight over nine different sports. He was also an Equipment Manager Intern with Akron, assisting with football and other Zips' athletic programs.
The start of Beaven's career was with South Carolina, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sport and Entertainment Management in 2021. While with the Gamecocks, Beaven served as a Student Equipment Manager for over a year.
