Following a promotion in January of 2016, J.B. Weber serves as VMI's Associate AD for Academic Services and Compliance. Weber came to VMI in August of 2014 as the Assistant A.D. for Academic Services and Compliance. In this role, Weber is responsible for the oversight of academic support programs, cadet-athlete services and compliance systems and operations.

Weber also serves as the Director of the Cadet-Athlete Development office, where he has remodeled academic support services by adopting a proactive and holistic approach. This culminated in rebranding the athletic academic advising office to Cadet-Athlete Development in January 2015. Weber is an advisor for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and has created personal development programming for cadet-athletes in the areas of leadership, mental health and community service.

Weber came to VMI from The Citadel, where he served as the Assistant AD for Compliance and Student-Athlete Development. He was responsible for managing all day to day compliance operations and, among his many other duties, was the school's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) advisor, as well as the Student-Athlete Development (Life Skills) programming coordinator.

Prior to his time as the Assistant AD, Weber was The Citadel's Coordinator of the Corps Squad Program, the school's Athletic Academic Support Services division. He was the liaison between the Academic Support Center and the athletic department, and was responsible for academic advising, monitoring academic progress and administering study halls and workshops, among other duties.

Weber also spent nearly seven years in football coaching, serving at his alma mater, Franklin and Marshall, for a nine-month stint as the team's linebackers coach before moving to The Citadel for a near-two year stint as a graduate assistant. Weber also began the football program at nearby James Island Christian School, and served as its head coach for four years.

Weber graduated from Franklin & Marshall, where he was a member of the football team, with a degree in history in 2006, and earned his Masters degree from The Citadel in May 2012. He is an N4A (National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletics) member and has held academic advising certification from that organization since 2012.
