Deion Betts joined VMI in May 2026 as the Associate Athletic Director of Administration and Business Strategy.
Betts spent the last year at Florida International as the Assistant Athletic Director of Business and Finance, leading the day-to-day business and financial operations for assigned sports programs, including team and recruiting travel, operating budgets, purchasing, contracts, and expense management to ensure fiscal responsibility and operational efficiency.
Prior to his FIU career, Betts was the Business Operations Associate at Missouri. While working with Mizzou, Betts reviewed, audited, and processed financial transactions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and proper posting in accordance with university and NCAA policies.
Since 2024, Betts has been a part of three professional development programs. He was with the LEARFIELD Empowering, Diversity, Growth, and Equity (E.D.G.E.) Academy in the winter of 2024. Since July 2025, Betts has been in the College Athletic Business Management Association (CABMA) Mentor Me Program, and since January 2026, has been in the NCAA-NAADD Foundations of Fundraising.
Betts graduated from Graceland in 2018, earning a Bachelor of Science in Sport and Fitness Administration & Management. Fast forward to 2026, Betts earned a Master of Science degree in Sports Management at Missouri.
A native of Miami, Florida, Betts has one daughter, Ari.
