Ty Schoffstall

Ty Schoffstall recently finished his fourth season as the assistant coach for the VMI wrestling program. He helped the Keydets finish fourth in the Southern Conference regular-season in 2018-19 with a 3-3 record, the program's best mark since 2006-07. VMI finished with 28 team points at the 2020 SoCon Tournament, just two points out of fourth place

Schoffstall came to the Institute by way of Edinboro University where he was a two-time NCAA Tournament qualifier as a member of the Fighting Scots wrestling team from 2013-18. Named a team captain as a senior, he earned runner-up status at 174 pounds at the Eastern Wrestling League Championship in March. As a junior in 2017, Schoffstall earned an individual EWL title at 174 pounds to help his team to the league title. He also earned an individual championship for the weight class at the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference Championship and helped the Fighting Scots to the team title that season.

Ty also played an important role at Bruce Baumgartner's and Tim Flynn’s World Class wrestling camps, serving as a camp counselor from 2014-18.

He earned a bachelor of arts in health with a focus on physical education from Edinboro in May of 2018.
