Joe Salinetro joined the Keydets staff in the summer of 2025 as a volunteer assistant coach.
Along with his duties at VMI, Salinetro works as a special education teacher with Rockbridge County Public Schools.
A Landisburg, Pennsylvania, native, Salinetro comes to VMI after spending three years as the New Kent High School Wrestling Coach and special education teacher in New Kent, Virginia.
During his stint with the Trojans, Salinetro led his squads to two state runner-up finishes and a fourth-place finish. His wrestlers held a combined 49-20 record, 10 state champions, eight All-Americans, and 14 collegiate wrestlers, with five going D-I.
Before taking the reins at NKHS, Salinetro was a member of the United States Navy, serving from 2014 to 2020, previously serving as a Barracks Petty Officer & Maintenance Personnel at Naval Station Norfolk.
Salinetro graduated from Old Dominion with a Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education General Curriculum K-12 in August 2023.
