Langston Behr enters his first year at VMI as the Institute’s new Assistant Director of Sports Performance for Olympic Sports. He will directly oversee strength and conditioning programs for Men’s Lacrosse, Men’s Soccer, Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving, Men’s and Women’s Rifle, and Women’s Water Polo.

Behr makes his way to Lexington by way of Greenwood, South Carolina, where he served as the first ever graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach at Lander University. At Lander he oversaw the strength and conditioning programs for Men’s and Women’s Tennis, Men’s and Women’s Golf, Acrobatics and Tumbling and Cross Country, while assisting with all other sports on campus.

Prior to his time in Greenwood, Behr has done several internships in the strength and conditioning field. He’s had successful stints at Campbell University, Saint Augustine’s University and Elon University. He’s also served as an intern in the private sector at Train 4 The Game in Austin, Texas, as well as having completed a virtual internship with the Arizona Diamondbacks.
A Raleigh, North Carolina native, Behr holds a bachelor's of exercise and sports science with a concentration in health and fitness management and a minor in business administration from Texas State University. He also has a masters in management from Lander University. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the NSCA, holds a level one certification in weightlifting from USA Weightlifting, and is CPR/AED certified through the American Red Cross.
