Biography

2009: Started six games in goal, including five in the month of September...played in 10 games total...frequently shared time with fellow netminder Angela Redmond, as the keepers would often alternate halves...played the entire game vs. Howard (9/1), notching her only shutout of the year as the Keydets won 3-0...made a season-best nine saves versus Campbell (9/12)...made five saves in just one half of play on two different occasions, 9/24 vs. UMBC and 10/4 vs. UNC Asheville...earned the win over Presbyterian in a Big South match (10/2)...posted a 1.72 Goals Against Average on the season, to go along with an 81.5% save percentage...ranked as a Battalion Color Sergeant in the VMI Corps of Cadets.

2008: Started 15 games in goal, including all nine Big South regular season games…collected three shutouts, all in League play…led the Big South in saves (53) and saves per game (5.89) in conference play, while tying for the second-most shutouts (3) in league games…also ranked second overall in the Big South in save percentage (81.2%), fourth in saves (82) and fifth in goals-against-average (1.26)…ranked 59th nationally in saves per game and 95th in save percentage on the season…made a season-high eight saves in a 2-1 loss vs. Boise State (9/21) and in a tie against Charleston Southern (10/4)…named Big South Player of the Week (10/7) after shutting out Winthrop (10/1) while making seven saves before allowing one goal over 110 minutes vs. CSU (10/4)…notched back-to-back shutouts in early-season wins over conference foes Liberty (9/24) and Winthrop (10/1), which stood as VMI’s first-ever shutouts against league opponents…opened the Big South season by allowing one goal in the first three games (290 minutes), totaling a 0.31 GAA and 95.5% save percentage in those games…was believed to be the only goalkeeper in the country to net multiple assists from the goalie box, assisting on goals against Boise State (9/21) and High Point (10/18) on what turned out to be the game-winning goal…Aaso became the first VMI keeper to record an assist…contributed a weekly blog, “Just Kickin’ It”, to the VMI Athletics website, www.VMIKeydets.com…ranked as a Company Corporal in the VMI Corps of Cadets…named to the Big South Conference Presidential Honor Roll.

2007: Saw action in 13 games as a freshman, leading the team with a 1.66 goals-against-average…ranked third in the Big South in save percentage (79.3%) and seventh in GAA…notched a win in her collegiate debut against Howard (8/31) and another versus Southern Virginia (10/2)…made a career-best 11 saves at Radford (10/10)…saw action in three of VMI’s school-record four shutouts…helped the goalkeeping corps to the lowest team GAA in school history (1.81)…made seven saves while playing her first complete game at Wofford (9/7), dropping a 1-0 decision…limited due to injury late in the season.

High School/Personal: Four-year letter winner…named Second Team All-District and Best Defensive Player…served as a team captain…also played for the Beach FC Piranhas U-17 team, serving as team captain for two years…competed in the Virginia State Cup and Score at the Shore (Tampa)…Junior Class President...Chemistry major with an Astronomy minor.
