Shari Jacobson enters her fourth season as an assistant athletic trainer the Institute where she oversees the men’s soccer and lacrosse programs. Jacobson is First Aid and CPR instructor certified and now holds certifications in FMS level 1&2, SFMA, FCS, FRC, and SDFN1. She is a member of the National Athletic Training Association.
She came to VMI from the University of Colorado where she completed her immersive experience as second year MAT student for the women’s soccer and men’s and women’s track and field and cross country programs.
From August to December 2020, Jacobson was a student athletic trainer at New Boston Huron High School in New Boston, Michigan, where she worked closely with the football, soccer, volleyball and cross country teams.
While attending graduate school at Eastern Michigan University, she served as an athletic training student and oversaw women’s gymnastics, men’s and women’s track and field and women’s swim and dive from January to March 2020 before the season shut down due to Covid-19. During the 2019 and 2020 fall semesters at Eastern Michigan, Jacobson worked with the football team. Her primary responsibilities included setting up the facility for football pre-participation examinations and providing individual medical coverage for the offensive line.
She achieved her Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Lake Forest College in 2018 and went on to earn a master’s degree in athletic training in May 2021 from Eastern Michigan.
