Daniel Welsh, a 2010 VMI graduate and program alum, will return to his alma mater as a volunteer assistant for Head Coach Richie Rose this season.

A four-year letterwinner for the Keydets, Welsh played in 46 games in the midfield. Throughout his time at VMI, he accumulated a career-high three points in 2008 as he scored his lone career goal against Coastal Carolina, and picked up an assist against Radford later in the season.

Welsh, currently enrolled in law school at Washington & Lee, was a four-time Big South Presidential Honor Roll member, as well as a three-time member of the Big South All-Academic team. The crowning achievement of his academic career came in his junior and senior years, as he was named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine All-Academic Team. He was also a multiple-time Dean’s List honoree. Welsh graduated with a 3.74 GPA with academic stars, and was an active member of the VMI Cadet Investment Group as well as holding rank in the Corps of Cadets during his time on post.
