Jessica Baxley enters her first season as an assistant athletic trainer for Wrestling and Rifle at VMI.
Baxley has a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science with extensive hands-on experience across a variety of clinical and collegiate sports settings. She is committed to optimizing athlete health, performance, and recovery.
While attending graduate school at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, she worked with Division I teams across football, baseball, soccer, and track and field at institutions like UNC Charlotte, Queen’s University and Virginia Military Institute.
Her training includes injury prevention, rehabilitation and the application of therapeutic modalities such as IASTM, cupping, ESTIM, Hivamat, and ultrasound. Baxley brings a well-rounded approach to care, shaped by her work with both high-performing collegiate athletes and youth athletes in school settings. Baxley’s clinical experiences also include surgical and EMS observations, allowing her to understand the full continuum of care. She is passionate about athlete education, clear communication, and supporting mental well-being under performance pressure.
Baxley is a certified member of the National Athletic Trainers Association and is a licensed Athletic Trainer in the Commonwealth of Virginia. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in May 2022. Before going on to earn her master’s degree in athletic training from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in May 2025, she took a gap year to gain more clinical and patient care experience at OrthoCarolina.
