2016: Went 1-0 in his final season...made his first start since April of 2013 April 12 at JMU, pitching a shutout inning...pitched a shutout inning 3/25 vs. The Citadel.
2015: Pitched in six games after returning from arm troubles...April 24 appearance at The Citadel was his first since May 17, 2013...pitched a shutout inning that day and retired two hitters two days later...worked a shutout frame May 14 at Western Carolina...named to the SoCon Spring All-Academic Team.
2014: Did not pitch due to Tommy John elbow surgery...expected to return for the 2015 season.
2013: Named Big South Pitcher of the Week and Perfect Game Player of the Day after throwing a complete game shutout at Virginia Tech on March 26...did not allow a runner to reach second base until the eighth inning in firing VMI's first complete game shutout since 2006...was the first Keydet blanking of the Hokies since 1962, and Lighton's BSC Pitcher of the Week award was VMI's first since 2010...went 4-3 with a 5.09 ERA and allowed just 1.37 walks per nine innings, which was tied for the fourth-fewest in Keydet single-season history...won four straight starts at one point, a run that lasted from March 13-April 27...earned his first career win with four shutout innings at William & Mary March 13...allowed two earned runs over five frames to beat Richmond a week later, and bested the Tribe again April 9 with 6 1/3 strong innings in which he did not allow an earned run.
2012: Redshirted the 2012 season.
High School/Personal: First Team All-SE District in 2011...struck out better than a batter per inning in 2010, when he was named honorable mention All-Southeastern District…posted a solid 2.80 ERA with two saves on the mound, and also hit .330 while playing first base...that earned him Second Team All-District honors at that position…Lighton also went 3-1 on the mound playing for Hitters Warehouse during the summer and had the Hickory HS baseball team's highest GPA in 2010...son of Jolinda and Ken Lighton.
