Rob Dickinson's Career Stats

2013: 2013 Big South Baseball Player of the Year...first Keydet player to earn that honor in any conference...earned Big South Player of the Week honors March 25, and also was tabbed SE Regional Player of the Week (CollegeBaseballInsider.com) and ECAC POTW during that same period...hit .399 on the season after grounding out in his final at-bat with a .400 average on the line...still finished tied for the sixth-highest batting average in single season Keydet history...despite missing three games and being limited in others due to injury, finished with the fourth-most hits in a single season (79) and the ninth-most total bases (118, tied) in program history...led the Big South in batting average (first Keydet to accomplish that feat), slugging percentage and total bases...was among the leaders in multiple other categories, including hits, on-base percentage and home runs...had the fourth-most hits (240), fifth-most doubles (47, tied) and fifth-most total bases (364) in career program history...also ranked in VMI's career top 10 in games played (tied for first), at-bats (ninth), RBI (tied for 10th) and batting average (sixth, .334)...was 5 for 14 (.357) with two doubles and two RBI in Alabama series...2 for 3 with a walk and two RBI against Richmond 2/20...2 for 3, two RBI 2/25 against UMES with one of VMI's school record four triples...5 for 11 (.455) in series at Western Kentucky, including a 2 for 2 game 3/9 a day after hitting his first home run of the year...hit .500 with two homers and three steals March 17-24, earning him the aforementioned Player of the Week honors from multiple organizations...4 for 5 with two RBI in 3/30 win over Coastal Carolina, when he moved into the top 10 on VMI's all-time hit list...2 for 5 with two runs scored at #4 Virginia 4/3...hit his fifth home run of the year in opener of VCU series (4/5)...3 for 4 in 4/9 win over William & Mary, giving the Keydets a season sweep of the Tribe...7 for 13 in Charleston Southern series with a home run and five RBI (4/13-14)...injured in collision with shortstop Nick Dwyer on 4/20, and would be limited until the season's final weekend...still went 3 for 5 with a home run and three RBI in DH opener against Liberty 4/27...had a career-high 14-game hitting streak and a 27-game run of reaching base snapped 4/23 and 4/26, respectively...also chipped in a career-high 15 steals in 20 tries.

2012: Recovered from slow start to hit .388 over the final seven weeks of the season, beginning 4/6…nearly half of his hits during that time (17-38) were for extra bases, including five home runs…hit .384 in the month of April…had nine multi-hit games in the month, including two of the four-hit variety…was 7 for 9 in April 7 doubleheader with Winthrop…earned his first career Big South POTW honor April 10...went 6 for 7 in final two games of Gardner-Webb series…tied for the team lead with 32 RBI…was 3 for 3 March 10 against Youngstown State...hit his first home run March 17 at UNC Asheville...was 2 for 3 April 13 at Coastal, but was caught stealing twice...homered in both ends of doubleheader with Campbell April 20...was 2 for 5 May 1 against VCU, including his final home run of the year...went 3 for 5 with two RBI and two runs scored May 11 against CSU...had three RBI against East Carolina (5/18)...was 2 for 5 and scored two runs in season-ending win at VCU.

2011: Hit .274 in 52 games…saw the majority of his action as the team's starting center fielder…was 3 for 4 in game 1 of twinbill against Binghamton (2/26)…had two hits in win over New Mexico State (3/12)…went 4 for 10 with two RBI over the final two games of the conference-opening Winthrop series (3/19-20)…had a seven-game hitting streak snapped in finale of Presbyterian series (3/27)…was 3 for 4 April 2 against Gardner-Webb…had two hits in win at William & Mary (4/13)…was 4 for 10 with six runs scored in first two games at Charleston Southern (4/15-16)…hit his first home run of the year in the middle game at CSU…went 2 for 4 in series finale against Liberty (4/23)…also had two hits against James Madison (4/26), helping the Keydets sweep the season series from the Dukes for the first time ever…was 2 for 4 April 30 at Coastal Carolina, including his second home run…had a home run, three RBI and two runs scored May 11 versus Longwood…went 3 for 4 with four RBI against UNC Asheville (5/13)…was 3 for 4 in regular season finale against High Point (5/21).

2010: Played in all but one contest as a true freshman, starting 43…hit .333 on the season with 14 doubles and five home runs…had a solo home run against Winthrop in the Big South Championship (5/27)…also had VMI's first pinch-hit home run of the year (4/27), as well as a crucial blast against #1 Virginia (4/14)…hit .417 with two doubles, a triple and four RBIs in the regular season-ending series versus Presbyterian College…had back-to-back games with go-ahead RBI against Winthrop and PC (5/16 and 5/20)…had a six-game stretch early in the year against La Salle and The Citadel when he hit .529 with four doubles…doubled in each of the games against La Salle, including going 3 for 3 in game four (3/14)…hit .417 with four runs scored and five RBI's in the series against Lafayette…went 3 for 4 with a home run in his first career start, coming against Bucknell.

High School/Personal: Three-year letterman as a center fielder under head coaches Ken Moore and Tag Montague at Douglas Freeman…named First Team All-District and Honorable Mention All-Region…named Team MVP as a sophomore and earned the team’s offensive award as a freshman…in 2009, hit .508 and earned Outstanding Senior Award…holds the school record with three triples in a game...son of Ken and Ann Dickinson…father played baseball at the University of Richmond…majoring in economics & business.
