Jacob Morley's Career Statistics

2012: Hit .318 with 11 home runs and 118 total bases...led the Big South in home runs for much of the year, before winding up second with 11…paced the conference in slugging percentage and ranked in the top-10 in five different categories (HR, 2B, 3B, SLG% and TB)…first Keydet since 2010 to have double-digit long balls…went 4 for 6 with five RBI and two home runs March 13 at Old Dominion…3 for 5 with three doubles 3/16 at UNC Asheville…3 for 4 with four RBI 3/27 against Presbyterian…homered in all three games of Campbell series, including two game-winners, one of which was a walk-off April 21…also had four outfield assists...tied for the third-most triples in a single year at VMI with his four...wound up finishing in the top 10 in VMI history in six different offensive categories, including games played (tied-4th), total bases (8th), hits (7th), triples (tied-4th), sacrifice hits (2nd) and at-bats (8th).

2011: Hit .295 with 25 RBI and 11 stolen bases in 49 games…served as VMI's regular right fielder…stolen base total ranked second on the ball club…also had eight doubles, two home runs and two triples…posted a .329 batting average out of conference…hit .367 (11 for 30) over an eight-game span in early March, including five multiple-hit efforts…that included going 4 for 8 in the first two games against Bucknell (3/4 and 3/5)…also had two hits in win at James Madison (3/8), VMI's first win in Harrisonburg in 25 years…went 2 for 4 with a run scored against New Mexico State (3/12)…had two hits in middle game of Winthrop series (3/19)…was 2 for 4 in series finale with Gardner-Webb on April 3…went 2 for 4 with a run scored at William & Mary in VMI's April 13 win, the Keydets' first win ever at Plumeri Park…was 4 for 5 with three runs scored in opener at Charleston Southern (4/15)…went 2 for 3 at VCU (4/19)…blasted a grand slam in middle game of Liberty series (4/23) to give the Keydets a lead in that contest...went 4 for 12 (.333) in Coastal Carolina series, the only VMI player to hit over .300 in that three-game set…was 3 for 5 against Longwood (5/11)…hit his second home run of the year in May 14 win over UNC Asheville.
    Summer: Named a Cal Ripken League All-Star.

2010: Hit .296 in 51 games (48 starts)…ranked fourth in the Big South in sacrifice bunts (11)…had 14 multiple-hit games and eight multiple RBI games in 2010…went 2 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs versus Liberty (4/16)…had a pair of two-run doubles in game three against Gardner-Webb (4/11)…went 3 for 5 with three RBIs, two runs scored and two doubles at JMU (3/24)…went 2 for 2 with three runs scored against CSU (3/27)…had a huge series against Lafayette, reaching base in 11 of 13 plate appearances (.846 OBP)…hit .778 in that series with two doubles, a home run, six runs scored and eight RBIs.
    Summer: Started 17 games for the Winchester Royals of the Valley League.

2009: Played in all but two games as a freshman, making 49 starts in the outfield…led the team with 12 stolen bases and was 8 of 9 on the basepaths in 23 Big South games…upped his batting average and on-base percentage against league opponents…hit his third home run of the season in game one at #23 Coastal Carolina (5/9)…had multiple hits, scored a run and drove home a run in each of the three games at Winthrop; was 7 for 12 (.583) with six runs and five RBIs in the series…had a pair of hits, stole two bases and scored two runs in VMI’s 14-4 Big South-opening win over Presbyterian (3/14)…went 3 for 4 with two RBIs and a walk-off single to give VMI its first win of the season against Old Dominion (2/24)…hit a grand slam, his first collegiate home run, against Rider (3/7).

High School/Personal: Four-year letterman at Woodson…named Liberty District Player of the Year as a senior…also earned All-Met Honorable Mention accolades from the Washington Post and All-Region honors as a senior…hit .439 with a .621 slugging percentage and a .519 on-base percentage, scoring 17 runs and driving in 12 runs as a senior…earned Co-District Player of the Year as a junior while playing the outfield, along with First Team All-Region and Second Team All-State Honors…hit .597 with 11 doubles, five home runs and 11 stolen bases as a junior…hit .420 with six home runs, 20 RBIs and 15 stolen bases as a sophomore… recipient of a Scholar-Athlete Award...son of John and Maureen Morley… participated in the 2007 Virginia Commonwealth Games and the NABF World Series…majoring in economics and business.
