Trey Lyons

Trey Lyons joins the VMI Baseball staff in June 2025 for his first season as an Assistant Coach, bringing a strong foundation in player development, data analysis, and program operations. Prior to arriving in Lexington, Lyons spent four years with the VCU baseball program, where he served as a student manager from 2021–24 before being promoted to graduate assistant for the 2024-25 season.

At VCU, Lyons aided in the development of multiple MLB Draft picks and contributed extensively to offensive and defensive training for infielders, catchers, and hitters. His responsibilities included advanced scouting, hitting and defensive instruction, and equipment operations. He was also a member of two Atlantic 10 Tournament championship Rams teams in 2022 and 2024 where the Rams competed in the 2022 Chapel Hill regional championship and defeated preseason #1 Wake Forest in the 2024 Greenville regional.

In addition to his collegiate experience, Lyons has worked with Prep Baseball Report (PBR) Virginia/DC since 2020, where he has served as a Scouting Intern and Intern Coordinator. In that role, he has evaluated and ranked prospects, managed showcase events, trained staff on data technologies like Trackman and Blast, and coached at the Junior Future Games.

Lyons holds a Bachelor of Science in Management and Business Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University and is completing his Master’s in Sport Leadership from the Center for Sport Leadership at VCU. His energy, attention to detail, and player-first mindset make him a valuable addition to the Keydets’ coaching staff.
