Campbell Henkel's Career Stats

2014: Went 2-3 with a 6.31 ERA in 18 outings (seven starts)...starter and winner 2/25 at #1 UVA, throwing four innings of one-run baseball...picked up his first career save 3/9 against Binghamton...pitched 3 1/3 perfect innings in April 2 start at VCU, striking out five before being removed due to pitch count...got the win 4/22 at JMU, allowing one run in 5 1/3 innings.

2013: Made 18 appearances in his junior year, starting 12 games and posting an ERA of 5.20...struck out a career-high eight in with over VCU April 6, a game in which he did not allow an earned run over 6 1/3 innings...also pitched well March 23 at Longwood, getting a hard-luck no-decision despite going 6 1/3 and striking out seven, allowing no earned runs...allowed just one earned run April 30 at ODU (six innings) and May 16 versus High Point (six innings)...picked up his lone victory of the season Feb. 25 against Maryland-Eastern Shore...pitched out of the bullpen for a time in April, making five appearances in a 10-day span.

Summer 2013: Valley League All-Star, pitching for the Woodstock River Bandits...finished the year with a 5-0 record and a 2.20 ERA...named the 27th-best prospect in the Valley League by Perfect Game. 

2012: Pitched in 14 games on the season, including 13 starts...went 1-5 with a 6.86 ERA...picked up his win March 10 against Youngstown State, allowing just one earned run over six innings...gave up four runs over six innings in a solid start 3/24 against Presbyterian, but got no-decision...hard-luck loser March 31 at High Point, allowing two runs over 5 2/3 frames...pitched very well in televised game (ESPNU) at Coastal Carolina, surrendering two runs over 5 1/3 innings, and again getting no-decision.

2011: Saw action in 13 games with one start…posted a 3.56 ERA in 30 1/3 innings…made his first collegiate start March 22 at Longwood, allowing three runs in 3 2/3 innings and getting a no-decision…began his collegiate career with a relief outing at Florida State, where he allowed two runs over three innings…pitched two shutout frames four days later against William & Mary in VMI's home opener, and picked up his first collegiate win…ran his mark to 2-0 by surrendering one earned run in three frames against Bucknell (March 4), striking out five…worked 1 1/3 shutout frames in March 8 win at James Madison, VMI's first win in Harrisonburg since 1976…threw season-long 5 2/3 innings against Gardner-Webb April 2, allowing just one run on three hits…pitched two shutout innings April 6 against Virginia Tech…did not allow an earned run over his final three outings, spanning 7 2/3 frames…picked up his third win of the year, against no losses, in season finale against High Point.

High School/Personal: Threw perfect game against Benedictine…struck out 11 in that game, including eight of the final 12 hitters…came back just 10 days later and threw a no-hitter against Liberty Christian…also has logged another no-hitter during his career…2010 VISAA Player of the Year…went 9-1 with a 1.29 ERA…had 116 strikeouts in 64 2/3 innings pitched…threw three shutouts…three-time All-State and All-Prep (2008-10)…two-time All-Metro (2009-10)…son of Merle and Anne Henkel...majoring in English with minors in business and writing…signed during the early signing period.
