Adam Kruithof's Career Statistics

2010: Named VaSID Academic All-State…made five appearances on the year, including a start against VCU at the Diamond in Richmond...retired all five batters he faced to close out game three at Gardner-Webb (4/11).

2009: Made 13 relief appearances and four starts as a sophomore…in his first start of the season, did not allow a hit through 5.2 innings, leaving with a 1-0 deficit to Richmond (3/24)…worked 2.1 innings, allowing two runs on six hits, against #18 Virginia (3/11) in his hometown of Charlottesville…allowed just one run in 4.1 innings versus Liberty (4/5) in his third start of the season… surrendered just two runs through four innings of relief at Winthrop (4/24)…named to the Big South Conference All-Academic Team.
    Summer: Made six appearances, including two starts, for the Stuart’s Draft Diamondbacks of the Rockingham County Baseball League…had 21 strikeouts in 22.1 innings, going 1-0 with two saves…allowed opponents to bat just .118 while compiling an ERA of 0.81.

2008: Saw extensive action as a weekend starter as a freshman…made five starts and four relief appearances, striking out 23 batters in 23.2 innings…worked the final four innings in relief in game three against Lafayette (2/24), scattering two hits while striking out three in his collegiate debut…earned his first career win by working four innings while allowing two runs on seven hits against Norfolk State (4/16)…struck out a career-best seven while not issuing a walk in a start against Coppin State (4/23).

High School/Personal: Earned Player of the Year honors in the Jefferson District after being named to the All-District First Team as both a pitcher and an outfielder as a senior…went 9-0 with a save while leading the squad with 71 strikeouts in 58 innings, with opponents hitting only .148…meanwhile at the plate, he paced the Warriors with a .429 batting average, a .683 slugging percentage and a .520 on-base percentage, along with his seven doubles and three home runs in 21 games…holds the Western Albemarle career record for wins (26) and innings pitched (211), along with the career mark for doubles (23)…as a junior, was named First-Team All-Central Virginia as a pitcher, going 8-2 with a 1.57 ERA and .192 opposing batting average, striking out 70 in 62.1 innings…also hurled seven complete games, three of them shutouts, as Western Albemarle won the Jefferson District tournament after sharing the regular season title…also hit .444 with a .683 slugging percentage and .598 on-base percentage, collecting nine doubles and 22 walks on his way to earning Second Team All-District honors as an outfielder...son of Art and Sue Kruithof…majoring in economics & business.
