On Hutchens: After redshirting last season at Virginia Tech, could push for a starting spot at 149 lbs.

2008-09: Wrestled the third-most matches on the team (28), with a majority coming at 149 lbs...Went 4-2 at the Hokie Open with a pin and a major decision...Was 11-12 at 149 lbs. and 1-4 at 157 lbs. late in the season...Won a pair of matches at the King College Open, the Davidson Open and the "Shorty" Hitchcock Memorial Classic.

High School: Placed third at 2007 Virginia AAA State Championships in the 135 lb. weight class, after going 57-4 in his senior year...Four-year letterwinner at Westfield under head coach Chuck Hoskins.

Personal: Son of Douglas and Lisa Hutchens...brother, Tyler, also a member of the VMI wrestling team...History major.
