2014: Former infielder converted to the mound and became VMI's closer as a senior...was 2-0 in 23 games with a 1.69 ERA and four saves...did not allow a hit in his first five outings...threw 2 2/3 scoreless innings, including picking up his first save, in late March series at Gardner-Webb...picked up saves 4/8 and 4/12 as well, against W&M and High Point...preserved one-run lead 5/12 vs. Old Dominion with 1 2/3 innings of work for a save.
2013: Hit .276 on the year in 18 games (seven starts)...went 8 for 29 with four runs scored and five RBI...2 for 5 at Richmond Feb. 20...started VMI's next game, Feb. 23 at Buffalo, but that would his last start until mid-March, when he went 2 for 3 with two RBI and two runs scored in a 3/16 win at Radford...1 for 3 with two RBI May 11 against Winthrop...drove in a run May 17 against High Point.
2012: Hit .262 in 27 games (65 at-bats)...started 17 games, playing both catcher and, for the first time, third base...made his first start at third base March 23 against Presbyterian and went 3 for 3 with four RBI and his first career home run...hit .700 (7 for 10) in that series and scored four runs...was 2 for 4 with two RBI April 11 against Longwood.
2011: Saw action in 21 contests, starting seven…started six of VMI's first seven games…was 4 for 28 on the year…went 1 for 4 with an RBI at #10 Virginia (2/23)…had two hits in three trips against New Mexico State (3/12)…had his first collegiate extra-base hit, a double, against Gardner-Webb April 3.
High School/Personal: Holds Trinity's school records for career home runs (22), single-season home runs (11) and single-season runs batted in (39)…hit .480 during his junior and senior seasons…is the third member of this class to have played in the Commonwealth Games…two-time All-State…HS teammate of fellow Keydet freshman Jordan Tarsovich…notched a Cum Laude score on the National Latin Exam…son of Chris and Michelle Hawkins...plans to major in Civil Engineering…signed during the early signing period.
