BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – VMI Baseball could not get past Samford in game two of the Southern Conference series on Saturday afternoon at Joe Lee Griffin Field.
The Keydets (24-10, 2-6 SoCon) had positive moments at the plate and in the field, but the Bulldogs (16-17, 4-4 SoCon) always had an answer and escaped with an 8-3 win to take the series. VMI has won both of its SoCon series finales and has not lost three straight games this season.

Scoring Summary
Second Inning: VMI scored first, tallying back-to-back RBI singles from Cook and Cardone to go up 2-0 early. However, Samford responded with four runs off a pair of home runs and a single.
Sixth Inning: The Keydets pulled within one after a no-doubt solo blast to right field by Fitzwater. Once again, the Bulldogs retaliated with four more runs in the bottom half with back-to-back bombs.
