Velasquez & Company shine in Keydets’ shutout victory

LEXINGTON, Va. – VMI Baseball claimed the series after shutting out Stonehill in game four of the weekend slate Sunday afternoon at Lamore Field at Gray-Minor Stadium.
 
The Keydets (10-2) pick up their 10th win after a 7-0 blanking of the Skyhawks (1-10). VMI's staffers force a zero in the Stonehill score column for the second time this series.
 
 
Key Stats
- VMI plated seven off 10 hits, the most hits this series.
- The Keydets stole 12 bases, the second-most in a single-game this season.
- Roberto Velasquez dazzled in his start, going 7.1 innings with four strikeouts and the victory.
- Keeping the shutout alive were Nolan Williamson and Buddy Baker, who came out of the bullpen and allowed no hits in the final 1.2 innings.
- Grayson Fitzwater hit career home run number 43 to move into sole possession of second on the all-time home runs list.
- Cole Raile and Thomas Conrad each had two hits and two RBIs.
