VMI closes regular season at Samford and Chattanooga

LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI basketball team will close the 2025-26 regular season with two road games this week against Samford and Chattanooga.
 
The Keydets and Bulldogs will square off Thursday night at 8 p.m. EST before VMI travels to Chattanooga for a 2 p.m. contest Saturday afternoon.

About the Bulldogs (16-13, 9-7)
As the league's hottest team with six consecutive conference wins going into last Saturday, the Bulldogs cooled off a little bit with a close 89-86 loss to Mercer on the road. Samford is presently tied for fourth place in the league standings with Furman with a 9-6 league mark.
 
The Bulldogs feature the conference's leading scorer in Jadin Booth who is averaging 20.9 points per game. Dylan Faulkner is also averaging double figures at 17.6 points per outing.
Faulkner is also one the league's top rebounders averaging 8.4 boards per game.
 
About the Mocs (12-17, 6-10)
After winning the NIT Tournament last spring, the Mocs have struggled to a 12-17 overall record and 6-10 mark in the league which is presently tied for eighth place in the conference standings going into next weekend's Southern Conference Championship.
 
Chattanooga enters this week with confidence coming off two straight road wins over league foes Mercer and The Citadel. The Mocs host UNCG Thursday night before facing the Keydets Saturday afternoon.
 
Jordan Frison leads the team with 15.4 points per game while former Keydet Brennan Watkins also averages double figures at 10.1 points per game.
