VMI holds off Ohio to win series

ATHENS, Ohio – VMI Baseball leaves the Buckeye State with a series win over Ohio Sunday afternoon at Bob Wren Stadium.
 
The Keydets (23-14, 4-5 SoCon) took two of three from the Bobcats this weekend, capping off the series with a tight 4-3 victory. With the triumph, VMI has now won five one-run games, with four runs being the lowest scored in a victory this season.

- VMI had four runs off six hits with four RBIs.
- The Keydets drew nine walks, scoring twice on bases-loaded walks.
- Ayden Schnarrs drove in the game-winning runs off a two-RBI single.

- Ohio put up a run in the opening frame.
- After four innings of scoreless action, VMI put up a crooked number in the fifth inning off back-to-back bases-loaded walks that scored Schnarrs and Kazuya Jordan, to give the Keydets a 2-1 advantage.
- The Bobcats knotted it up at two in the bottom half of the frame.
- In the top of the sixth, down to his last strike, Schnarrs delivered a single that would score two Keydets and give VMI a two-run lead.
- Ohio cut the deficit in half in the sixth, 4-3.
- Despite a last-inning surge, Hawley and the Keydets' defense shut down a potential comeback, leaving the winning run on the base path.
